Exercise for the Mind, Body, and Soul

There’s a saying that patience is a virtue, and the same could be said when it comes to our journey to physical fitness and becoming better versions of ourselves. It is something that does not happen overnight and takes hard work and perseverance. Yoga is a discipline that also preaches patience through different physical, mental, and spiritual practices. And one way to help us practice discipline and patience when we exercise is practicing a yoga flow.

According to entrepreneur, digital content creator, and fitness guide Marie Field-Faith, a yoga flow will help us find a balance between physical and mental health and help us practice patience. But before one can practice a yoga flow, they first need a space where they can move as well as a yoga mat, towel, and water for hydration.

Before going to the routine, it is essential to do warmup exercises, such as practicing the Cat Pose. Field-Faith compared it to being like a cat stretching in the sun and involves looking up with the belly down and then moving upwards and then slowly repeating it for five to eight stretches.

The Sun Salutation is a pose that energizes the body and involves various poses, which Field-Faith compared to slow dance. Aside from energizing the body, this pose can also improve blood circulation, and develop strength.

This pose begins by inhaling, lifting your arms up into the sky, looking up, and bending your back slightly. Then, you can exhale, dive down, fold over, and inhale, and lift halfway up, look forward, and exhale, lunge your left foot back, and get into a plank position.

After that we need to lower down, inhale, move upward, and exhale into a downward dog pose, then bring your left foot back into your hands, followed by the right foot, fold over, inhale, lift up, and pull your hands back up into the air, exhale with your hands over your heart, and repeat to allow the Sun Salutation to give your body benefits.

That flow should be repeated for the right foot, and when starting, one should start with 4-6 rounds before adding more flow as you get stronger before getting to ideally 12 repeated flow.

This yoga flow will not only help people stay physically fit while staying at home, but it will also teach them discipline and patience and benefit their body, mind, and soul!
