The Most Anticipated TV Shows of 2023 – FamilyWise Asia

Now is a good time to be a fan of television shows, as we’re still in the middle of what’s being called “Peak TV” and the “Second Golden Age of Television.” These days, it seems as if there are a lot of great TV shows being recommended to us, whether it’s on a streaming service like Netflix, Apple TV, and Disney+, or on channels like HBO, NBC, and CBS.

The upcoming year will be no different, as 2023 promises to be another big year for TV, whether it’s new shows that promise to tell interesting stories or the latest seasons of your favorite series featuring familiar casts. Here are some of the most anticipated shows that are coming to the small screen this year:

1. The Last of Us (HBO)

Based on the popular video game series from Naughty Dog, The Last Of Us will likely be a part of the viewing habit of many people. The post-apocalyptic drama series, which stars Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey, centers on Joel, a smuggler who is tasked to escort Ellie across a dystopian version of the United States. Release Date: January 15

2. The Mandalorian Season 3 (Disney+)

It’s been two years since the last season of this beloved Star Wars series by Jon Favreau, but fans will be returning to a galaxy far, far away soon as the third season of The Mandalorian finally drops this year! Pedro Pascal returns as Din Djarin or Mando, who will reunite with Grogu or Baby Yoda for another exciting adventure. Release Date: March 1

3. Secret Invasion (Disney+)

It seems as if there are always new additions to the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), but Secret Invasion is one of the most anticipated forays of Marvel into the small screen. Samuel L. Jackson’s Nick Fury takes center stage as he tries to help save the world from the Skrulls, a group of shapeshifting aliens.  Release Date: 2023

4. Ted Lasso (Apple TV)

A new season brings new hope for Coach Ted Lasso (Jason Sudeikis) and the rest of his team at AFC Richmond as this award-winning show returns to give more laughs and heartwarming moments. At the end of the second season, Roy and Keeley’s relationship was on the rocks, while Nate joined the coaching staff of West Ham United and turned his back on his former team. All these questions and more will definitely be answered in the upcoming season, and we certainly can’t wait! Release Date: 2023

5. Avatar: The Last Airbender (Netflix)

An adaptation of one of the most believed animated shows will not be an easy task, but one thing’s for sure: A lot of people will have their eyes on Netflix’s adaptation of Avatar: The Last Airbender. The series, just like its source material, will be set in a war-torn world where people can master or bend each of the four classical elements – water, earth, fire, and air. The show will follow Aang, the latest Avatar, who is the only one capable of mastering all the elements and bringing peace and balance to the world. And with a highly-acclaimed source material and a promising cast, this show is definitely on the must-watch list of a lot of people! Release Date: 2023
